France Légaré

First trained as an architect, France Légaré has been practising family medicine in Quebec since 1990 and is a full professor in the Family Medicine and Emergency Medicine Department at Université Laval, Quebec. She is an internationally recognized leader in shared decision making (SDM) and knowledge translation research. Since June 1st 2016, she has held the title of Tier 1 Canada Research Chair in Shared Decision Making and Knowledge Mobilisation. She is a clinical researcher at VITAM Centre de recherche en santé durable and at the Centre de recherche du CHU de Québec, Université Laval. In 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2021, she has been listed annually as one of the top 1% most cited scientists, indicating that her work has been repeatedly judged by her peers to be of notable significance and utility. Her research program aims to implement shared decision making in clinical practice with a focus on home care and prenatal screening programs. In addition to SDM, primary care and knowledge translation, she is also an expert in implementation science and scale-up science.
